My Little Bride

It was a great day in wedding planning today...ellen found a dress and a possible location for her CA wedding! Much to my chagrin, I am not permitted to post pics of her in the dress for fear john will somehow see (i hear you, dave and el!), but I cropped this one b/c it is hilar.

I am so excited for this wedding!

Oh no!

ok...so I was just sorting the mail from this week and found a letter from the Carolina Raptor Center informing me that our adopted barred owl, Hala, "has recently passed and is very much missed by everyone." ah! I guess hala has gone off to that big forest in the sky...

But not to worry, they send us a replacement bird to stand in until our adoption period is up in march - which i find to be a little weird and funny at the same time.

Here is some info on our "new" son...

Kajika came to CRC as an orphan after falling from his nest as a baby. He fractured his right wing, and unfortunately his injury did not heal well enough for him to be able to fly. His name comes from a Native American word meaning “walks without sound” referring to owls’ ability to fly silently. Kajika is a member of Carolina Raptor Center’s education team, and travels all across the Carolinas teaching thousands of children about the importance of owls and other raptors to the environment.

Fall is finally here in Charlotte, NC and I am thrilled. Good college football, crisp mornings and cold nights, autumnal leaves...three cheers for fall...
