The Moore the Merrier

Three cheers for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, winners of the 2007 Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte against UConn Saturday, January 2nd. Kenny Moore, #21, was named player of the game and set a new ACC record for passes received. We celebrated our deacons by hosting our own Parent's Weekend...the Rietzes and the Smiths joined us as well as Jan and Bob. Matt Miller was definitely an added bonus. What else can we say at the outset of a New Year, but "Here's to Wake Forest?"

Meet Pepper Smith

Our friend Meggles recently purchased a new pup - her name is Pepper and she is a 1.5 pound precious. One might even call her a live beanie baby at this point. Check her out - I know her mommy would love to see your comments...

Ode to Mailing

Oh how I loved thee, my UPS Store,
My gifts shipped to TX for Christmas? You swore
they'd arrive well before the big day.
so I carried your torch, but to my deep dismay,
it appeared back on my porch!

Then I turned to the good old USPS,
adding the "extra postage required"
to my Denmark address.
Days later, I discover, with horror and dread,
that a 41-center suffices instead.

Is it holiday time that brings our your wrath?
Or perhaps a simple deficiency in math.
Whatever the case, I have lost all the love,
next Christmas perhaps, I'll mail out via dove.

Christmas in July

At least it feels that way...70 degrees in Charlotte yesterday - this after last Tuesday's high of 40 - go figure. I love this shot of dave on our convertible drive yesterday...for those of you who are wondering, we enjoy singing songs with the top down....

Welcome to the World, Raines Virginia Stewart

Two and a half weeks ago, our Charlotte community received a new member, Lisa and Forest are new parents, and we say welcome to the world, sweet Raines. We're glad you're here.

Feel the Love

It's official...we are in the Christmas spirit here in Charlotte (i have to say, for me, much more than usual)...the house is decorated and the Christmas movies are laid out...hope you are finding time to relax and enjoy this busy season.

Turkey Day

This year, we were blessed to head to Steamboat Springs, CO to celebrate the day with jana, bob, rob, el, and john suits (ellen's beau( at the Rietz's wonderful home.

Trip highlights include:
1. playing the bowl game (aka celebrity) and laughing to tears
2. waking up to 4" of snow
3. teaching john and mom mexican train - arriba!
4. playing washers on the driveway
5. resting and reading (I finally finished "The Space Between Us" (thanks for the rec, mar!)
6. being together
