Happy Earth Day

I will be the first to admit that "going green" has become an almost-annoying trend these days. But today I take a minute to pause and say that I'm thankful for the heightened awareness for our earth this trend has created for me. It reminds me of how often I take for granted the ease and beauty in my world. So this earth day, I consider my impact on our planet and what I can do to lessen it.

Hoping you do, too....

New Treasures

The last few weeks have brought a lot of fun exploring...the first venture was a quick one-nighter to Staunton, VA to see the American Shakespeare Company's production of Taming of the Shrew. The theater is a recreation of The Blackfriar's Theatre from Elizabethan England. The acting was amazing and I felt like they channeled my Will (Shakespeare) in amazing ways. Be aware that the ASC's slogan is "We do it with the lights on" - I'll let you figure out the origin.

Having never seen that particular work live, I was in heaven. I was also reminded of Shakespeare's amazing ability to write for his audience's ears and eyes. Of course I left feeling energized for our return to Shakespeare in grade five -- and feeling resolved to help my students hear and feel Shakespeare...

The second jaunt was local - to a new tea bar in Matthews called Urbana. Megan found this little treasure and I have to say it is a must for all tea-drinkers and peace-seekers. The set-up is a combined spa and tea bar and the atmosphere is heavenly. Upon ordering, we were invited to curl up on the couch and take our shoes off...

Thanks to David for humoring me and my love of Shakespeare and to Meg for keeping me up to date on the trends.

Old Treasure

So...when recently sorting through some of David's childhood items, we came upon this sweet treasure. The pictures below show a YMCA basketball card featuring a 12 year old Bill Rietz, Center/Forward for the Maroon Hustle. I would like you to notice two things: 1) Even the Photomajic people from 1988 can't spell our last name: Bill Reitz 2) Bill's subtitle reads: "Awesome on Baseline--" I think it's clear you should have been #1, brother Bill, instead of #2.

in need of a poem

It's been cold and rainy in charlotte these days - dreary at best. I stumbled upon this poem today and thought I'd share with you...

April Rain Song

Let the rain kiss you
Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops
Let the rain sing you a lullaby
The rain makes still pools on the sidewalk
The rain makes running pools in the gutter
The rain plays a little sleep song on our roof at night
And I love the rain.

My Sister is a Rock Star

So my rock star sister (an employee at davie brown entertainment) works on placing client's products in the TV shows we all know and love. Seen any characters wearing Victoria Secret's PINK line? Ellen does that! One of her newest clients is Paige of the fabulous Paige Premium denim...

Anyhoo, my rock star sister put a bug in a wardrober's ear that a certain superstar who was costarring on his sitcom recently may be interested in wearing some Paige's while filming. My rock star sister slipped a note into the jeans, inviting this superstar for in a private shopping spree at the Paige boutique. So today, this certain superstar's assistant called my rock star sister to confirm that yes, in fact, her boss would love to come and shop. As I type, the superstar is shopping away and my baby sister is accompanying her.

I am so proud for you, smells...we'll look for you on TMZ...

FOLLOW UP: Check out the paparazzi video on the link below - you can see ellen in the store after B.S. goes into the dressing room - her back is to the camera and she is wearing a white top and jeans. :)
