Kabuto

Tuesday night, we went to Kabuto Japanese Hibachi Grill to celebrate Laurie's birthday...David set it up and she was quietly surprised. I had not been to a hibachi since I was 10 years old, and, quite frankly, wondered why I should return. But I did end up learning a few new things:

1) I cannot catch zucchini from the hibachi cook in my mouth and that a zucchini in the eye does not hurt as much as I thought it would.

2) Laurie loves ginger sauce.

3) Never leave a candle on the back of a toilet.

4) The smell you have when you leave a Hibachi Grill is quite similar to the smell you get at a fondue place.

5) Celebrating birthdays with a few good friends is good stuff no matter the locale.

The ladies at the table also agreed that Jason the bachelor stinks for getting rid of Jillian - but that is neither here nor there...

I forgot the camera, so here are pics (low quality) from my phone:

I also neglected to post pictures from our super bowl experience at Laurie's so I wanted to include those here...three cheers (or should I say six?!) for the Steelers! (For those who didn't know, David Rietz is a huge Steelers fan - the loyalty springs from his three years working in the Burgh working for Accenture...)

(yep - D is wearing an NFL certified Ward jersey - thanks, smells...)

Post Concussion Syndrome

My precious little brother Robert fell down the stairs on Friday and got a big "kerbonger," as he puts it. After a trip to the hospital, all seems sound medically, but mom and dad said he was sluggish and not eating (even McDonald's nuggets - gasp) so they went back to the hospital yesterday. The doctors think he has "post concussion syndrome" and that his particular brain is just recovering differently than most.

All this is to say, pray for little Rob - specifically that he will be up and out of bed soon...

World's Most Wanted Wiener

So I was talking to my sister yesterday and she admitted that she had hit Wienerschnitzel for lunch. "Gross!" I exclaimed. "I do it a lot. I just can't help it," she said, "it's so good."

I would never, until yesterday, have believed that my sister's guilty pleasure would be wienerschnitzel. That got me thinking about the secret loves in our lives. For me, it is french fries. Stick a fried potato in my face (sweet, waffle, steak, shoestring, curly cue - you name it...) and I can't say no. I wonder what the potatoes are like at the home of the world's most wanted wiener?

I would love to hear your guilty pleasures...post away!
