"I'm a Tico!"

says David Rietz as he passes a bus around a curve on a mountainside in the dark in Costa Rica. Yikes, right?

Crazy as it sounds, were "Ticos" (aka Costa Ricans) this weekend. David was already in CR for work and so I joined him for a Thursday - Sunday long weekend on the coast. I flew into San Jose, met up with David at his hotel, and we ventured off. As the roads in CR aren't clearly marked, it took us a little longer than expected to get to our destination at Playa Herradura, but we made it. In hindsight, we should have followed the big white bus with a picture of Jesus and "Solo El es Grande." Hehe.

We spent Friday adventuring - zip-lining in the rainforest to be precise and it was wicked fun. Best $60 spent. Ever. Saturday, we laid by the pool and gazed at the ocean. I read - count 'em - two entire books over our three days away. Pure love.

Other highlights included being pulled over for speeding on our way back to San Jose, (we only received a "pequeno boleto" of $20. great.), stopping to see the Crocodile Bridge (where tons of crocs gather to be fed by tourists), seeing a Toucan and "white face" monkey in the flesh, and napping. Mostly, we loved soaking up the beauty around us. We kept looking at each other and saying, "That's amazing."

Enjoy the pictures in the Shutterfly album above...the photos at the end are the official shots from our Canopy zip-lining trip...
